What does MuniGo do?
MuniGo helps municipalities find, hire and support their senior leaders. We run CAO and senior executive searches, facilitate strategic planning with Council and staff, and provide executive coaching for new and established leaders.
Who do you work for, the municipality or the candidates?
The municipality. Our client is always the Council and community that hires us, not the applicants. Our job is to find the right leader for you, not to place a candidate from our list.
How do you find candidates?
We search widely and directly. We advertise where municipal leaders look, reach out personally to proven people who are not actively job hunting, and draw on deep networks across local government. We do not recycle the same short list from search to search.
How long does a CAO search take?
Most searches take about three to four months from kickoff to signed contract, depending on Council meeting schedules, the number of interview rounds and the successful candidate's notice period.
How involved does Council need to be?
As involved as you want. We typically meet with Council at the start to define the role and the leader you need, keep you updated throughout, and guide you through interviews and the final decision. We handle the legwork so Council can focus on the choice.
How do you assess candidates?
Every finalist is tested before we recommend them. We use structured interviews, practical exercises tied to your priorities, thorough reference checks and background verification, so Council sees evidence, not just a polished resume.
Is the process confidential?
Yes. We protect the confidentiality of candidates and of Council's deliberations throughout the search, and we work within your municipality's privacy and procurement requirements.
How much does a search cost?
Fees depend on the scope of the search and the size of the municipality. We provide a clear, fixed quote up front so there are no surprises. Contact us for a quote.
What if the new CAO doesn't work out?
We stand behind our placements. If your new CAO leaves or is let go within the guarantee period, we will run a new search at no additional fee. Ask us for the full details of our performance guarantee.
